If you ask me to make your dress - this is how it will happen
At our first meeting, we will discuss in detail and work out exactly the dress you always dreamt about. I will listen very carefully to you, to be sure that I really understand what you want. We will think about your figure and the best way to make the most of it - I often model fabrics on a dress stand for you to see. You and I will be your design team. A lot of ideas will come out - we look at many fabrics and ways of decorating your dress - before you choose your own unique style.
For our next meeting, I will have cut a paper pattern and made a cotton toile (a trial) of your dress. You try on the toile and I adjust it as needed. I might have made different sleeves for you to look at.
We could try different necklines. We would look again at the original ideas on decoration.
By the time we meet again, your dress will have been tacked up so that you can begin to see how special it will be. I will fit the dress and you will be able to make further decisions about the details. You may then need only one more fitting, to make sure that everything is perfect and as you want it.
You will find that I pay a lot of attention to detail and spend a lot of time on each dress. My prices compare favourably with those for good 'off the peg' dresses. I enjoy doing the work and I believe that this shows in the quality. |
